The word nationalism has been connected with nation’s member, that is, nation since the revolution of France. I explained the general idea to the nationalism comparing and explaining Rousseau, Herder, Mazzini, Hanskohn, and Hayes. Besides I have paid attention to comparing and understanding Korean democratic consciousness and nationalism by way of observing thenationalist’s opinion by scholars. Expecially it has been discussed that modernized nationalism is organized through Korean people traditional characters, enlightened idea and Oriental idea. I surveyed the problem and course of Korean nationalism based on the Korean nationalism. At the end I concluded to have to have a view of homeland’s image of future based on the Korean people’s new nationalism.
